Holly Harp

*
While my bf surfs the internet looking for info on Snoop Dog songs or plasma screen TVs, I spend my spare surf time googling the fashion world. Today's venture? Mary Kate Olsen. I love her slumpy yet chic style which is always one stiletto ahead of the times.

In parusing the internet for samples of Mary Kate's fierce fashion, I came across this photo of her in an amazing vintage Holly Harp design. I love the drop-waste and the flowy-effortless-ness of the dress's form. Holly Harp was a fashion designer who's influence resonated with hippie-culture. Flowy and silky designs were characteristic of her aesthetic. I remember my mother mentioning her name back in the 80's and owning a few pieces of her designs. Altogether, I find this number uber-chic, inspiring, and somewhat nostalgic.

Puppy and Kitty Love....

This exemplifies the adorable compassion two traditionally conflicting animals can have for each other:

Sometimes all it takes is 20 seconds to brighten your day...Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did...

Thank you, as always, icanhascheezburger.com!

Bestest Cookies EVERRR!

Photobucket

I've been a long-time fan of REALLY good food, especially sweets. In 2006 I was introduced to the wonderful world of organic foods and have since sought to discover the best tasting organic foods out there. In my quest, among the grass-fed beef and stone-ground wheats, I discovered these AMAZING cookies.

The packaging does not do them any justice. One whole cookie consists of two peanuty-buttery-shortbread-style cookies sandwiching a creamy, flavorful layer of peanut butter. You can eat them Oreo-style by eating one half by itself then licking off the creamy center or by taking one sumptuous bite of crunch and cream altogether. I enjoy mine both ways with a glass of 2% organic milk. Yum!

If you love cookies, these are by far the best I've ever tasted...even better than Nutter Butters!!! No offense, Nabisco.

Organic, peanut-buttery, and super-tasty, who wouldnt LOVE? Try 'em and let me know what you think...

(..can be found at your local Hannaford Supermarkets (east coast) and Walmart also has them).

American Apparel Love...

Photobucket

One of my best friends introduced me to A.A. during a visit to ATL a few years ago…and it was love at first site. With clothes ranging from the funky to the basic, I found my own niche of style amongst the assortment of terry-cloth spanky-pants and skin-tight dresses…

The following are the essential A.A. items the I love, lust for, and am never satisfied without having them in every color….

#1) Sheer-Luxe Over-the-Knee Sock (heart design)

A cute yet savvy addition to pair with the interlock pencil skirt and some calf-high black boots.

#2)
Interlock Pencil Skirt
Office casual or night club chic. Pick your color and coordinate with a collared shirt, basic cami, and a contrasting sash.

#3) Pelham Eyeglasses.
Book-worm chic. Need I say more?

#4) Unisex Stripe Short Sleeve Button-Up Shirt.
Love the fact that this is unisex. The vertical strips make it a slimming plus.

#5) Stripe Shiny Denim Duffle Bag.
Pink, gold, and striped. I'm in love.

#6) Unisex Fleece Zip Jogger.
A snuggly-figure-flattering option that works for a casual outing or lounging around. The numerous color options are perfect for mixing and matching.

#7) Loop Terry Running Short.
Remember the early 80's when NBA players' shorts left people wondering how they didnt "lose baggage control"? A.A.'s terry-cloth version of these are perfect for showing off the boo-tay. I love rockin' these around the house or to the beach.

#8) The Thigh-High Sock.

Regardless of your size (i'm a size 16 right now with THICK thighs), they can easily be worn as long-johns in the winter or to pair with the loop-terry short to lounge around the house.

#9) Chambray Jumper Pant.

Looks beyond fabulous paired with a steep pair of pumps and chunky accessories.

#10) Acid-Wash Circle Scarf.

Most never thought acid-wash would ever return. Alas, A.A.'s take on this resurrected trend with this scarf is a simple yet fashionable way to mix a little acid-wash into your life. And with A.A.'s 20-different-ways-to-wear-it, you can find a way to love it in your own wardrobe.

Welcome to My New Blog...

Cupcake...

...my baby, Inga

...and Dolce, the newest member of the fam

With the sad passing of my smushy-faced kitty, Tess, one of my good friends gave me a pet cockatiel. I'm stoked as I've never had a pet bird before. Cockatiels are able to sing and mimic human sounds, which is definitely cool. I've named her "Dolce" (as in Dolce & Gabbana). If Tess were still here she would've tried to snuggle Dolce already...

In addition to the welcoming of Dolce to the famiily, I've also invested in a new digital SLR camera which has been an awesome toy over the past couple of days....

All in all, the passing of Tess has inspired me to make this life count even more...and in doing that, I want to celebrate all of the things I've been blessed with.

*RIP Tessi Mamma 5/10/10*
